Anglain Water Document Management
Background
Anglian Water is one of the UK’s largest geographical water companies. They deliver water and sewerage in one of the driest regions in the UK.
Issue
Anglian Water wanted to implement a system to help with data in the organisation. They had ongoing problems with server disk space running out, people not being able to find data and it being duplicated. We formed a consultancy team to investigate a solution to this.
Solution
The solution was to implement a system called Live Link. It had the ability to index data and compress it onto a server farm that could be expanded as and when needed with minimal additional cost. One extra benefit was the ability to link this to the e-mail system.
It could compress them and also have rules in place to archive data onto cheaper to run servers that only took a few seconds to access.
Applications
Once we had worked alongside Live Link we then built rules to manage the data based on meetings with Directors and end users. We used conference calls to train drive administrators. We could hold group calls and show them our screens without incurring additional cost of travelling and time.
We built an MS access database for drive administrators to scan their server area to product them reports on data usage. This also logged the data into a central system so that the central IT team could monitor areas before they came a problem.
