Dropbox
As well as working with businesses on their Internet marketing I'm always keen to share ideas of using internet tools to help the businesses run more productively. One of the tools I like most is Dropbox. I've tried a whole bunch of time-saving features but Dropbox makes the whole process seamless between all my different devices of iPhones, iPads, laptops, computers etc.
Put your files in the cloud with dropbox. This service is a great example of the often talked about cloud computing. It allows you to store your documents, photos and music in an online cloud, that you can access from anywhere you've got an web connection.
Install the seamless Dropbox desktop app on your machine, and it will stay synchronised with whatever you put in your cloud - so you'll always have a local copy of everything. If like me, you've got a desktop and a couple of laptops and other devices you can install the desktop app on multiple machines and they'll all stay synced with the exact same files. That means no more e-mailing files to yourself, or transferring files across machines using USB sticks.
On your computer, dropbox looks just like a normal set of folders and subfolders, so you can drag and drop, copy and paste to your heart’s content. What's more, you can share individual folders with as many people as you like. So their computers will have exactly the same thing on as yours. This solves the issue of e-mailing big files, or executables, or whole folders.
IPhone, iPad, Blackberry or Android user? Download the dropbox app. It gives you access to everything in your cloud, without the hassle of storing it on your device.
Dropbox offers 2GB of cloud space for free. If you want more, then you'll need to go pro, which starts at $9.99 a month for 50 GB.
There are other cloud services available but I prefer dropbox I would suggest you give it a go and the more people you share it with you get an extra 250 MB of storage space for each time every person signs up, up to a maximum of 8GB. Drop us an e-mail to
