Evernote- the time saving list writer
I love lists but unfortunately I create far too many to-do lists. One time saving feature I found for organising these is with a program called Evernote.
I spent ages trying to find a to-do list that would work for me, post it notes stuck to my monitor and writing on the back of my hand only got me so far. I wanted for more sophistication in technology. I wanted something that synced with all my devices. I wanted something that allowed me to search through my notes, and manage multiple lists, each one for a different project.
Evernote was the answer.
Evernote it is a great tool that sits in the cloud, just like dropbox first discussed in a previous blog, but also has apps for just about everything when you're using her PC or a Mac, or walking around with an iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Windows phone or iPad.
Evernote is based on a collection of notes, which sit in notebooks. In practice, I have different notebooks for different projects, and then have multiple notes inside each notebook, which might contain to do lists, project plans, half formed ideas, e-mails or articles.
It's not just text either, Evernote easily handles images, attachments, web clips and everything else you can throw at it; in fact, if you take a photo of a hand written note, or a whiteboard or a business card, Evernote automatically makes the text in the image searchable.
The free version of Evernote does pretty much everything you'd want it to, including unlimited note storage space. Upgrade to premium for $45 a year (or five dollars a month) and its just a bit better still.
