Tips on Choosing a Domain Name Registrar and Hosting Provider

    Some quick definitions ...

A Domain Registrar is a company that enables you to register (pay for and own) a domain name such as www.DevelopAndPromote.co.uk.

A Hosting Provider (or company) gives you space on the internet where you can put your website pages (images, text, etc). They backup your content as well as maintain the computers and all the technical stuff related to keeping your website live.

You need both to have a website.

My keys for choosing a domain name registrar:

    UK sites slower than US

With Google making the speed of a web site an integral part of the ranking process, it's time for web designers to make sure their sites are lightweight. A recent survey by web optimisation software firm Aptimize took a selection of sites from FTSE companies and Fortune 1,000 companies in the US. According to the survey results some sites took 50 seconds to load. This is unacceptable!

It's no secret that slow loading web pages result in increased customer dissatisfaction and direct loss of revenue, and now a lower page rank. Is it time to get your site sorted?

Migrate new clients from previous Web Design Company

Today we welcome 43 new customers to Develop and Promote. They transfer over to us from a Web Design company that is no longer trading. The first stage is to reassure the customers that they have nothing to worry about with loss of service from us. We strive to exceed our customers’ expectations with honest and fair advice based on their current position. We have sent out a letter detailing the transfer details which will be followed up with  a phone call to introduce ourselves.

    Branston Junior School sponsorship

We are delighted that Branston Junior School has accepted our offer to help them with their web site. The project has three phases.

    1. Redesign the web site so the structure reflects how the school split their information
    2. Train the staff to update areas of their web site so that the information is current
    3. Give the site a facelift to build the recognition of the school

Have a peek at the site structure as it is now before we train the staff when they are back from the summer holidays.
