Mobile Site FAQ

Since we announced our Webinar yesterday, we've had a few inquiries about Mobile Sites so we're going to answer some of them below. If you find this interesting and would like more information, sign up for the FREE Webinar here

Isn’t my website already optimised for mobile?

Prior to the invention of the Mobile Site, optimising an existing website for mobiles was a complicated and time consuming process, and a specialised extra service. The Mobile Site works differently. It’s basically a separate website, which your normal website automatically redirects users to when they access it from a mobile. The structure is different from a regular website as it’s designed for users to interact with it on a smaller screen, using their fingers and thumbs.

Why do I need one?

Initially, mobile optimisation was more important for businesses that rely on passing trade, such as pubs and restaurants, which customers will want information on when they’re out and about. But the amount of people searching the net on their phones has grown by a staggering 400% in just under three years. It’s no longer just when people are out of the house that they’re using their mobile to go on the internet, they’re choosing it over a regular computer when they’re at home too.

Why haven't I heard about this before?

It’s a relatively new development, as the massive growth of mobile phone traffic in such a short time shows. For example the Develop and Promote site received more than one in ten of its visits from mobiles in the last year, which took us by surprise a bit too. We’re one of the few companies offering this service at the moment, and we’re keen to offer our customers to get a head start as the use of mobiles continues to grow. It’s predicted that by the end of this year more people will be surfing the net on their ones than on conventional devices!
