Google’s new Helpful Content Update
Google search is always working to make its user experience better. They are constantly trying to connect people to helpful information. Google has recently launched what they are calling the “helpful content update”. It is a part of Google’s broader effort to make sure that its users are connected to more helpful, and original content, written by people for people.
Wondering how as a business you can now create helpful content? Well wonder no more –
Follow Google’s long-standing advice and guidelines to create content for people and not for search engines. How can you create people first content? Well think of your existing (or intended audience if you are just starting out) customers for your business and think of all the content they would find useful. For example, if your business offers cleaning supplies, then think of all the little tips and tricks that your customers would appreciate for all the ways in which they can use the cleaning supplies. Make sure that the content you upload actually exhibits in-depth knowledge of the product or service that you offer. The goal is that when a customer or prospective customer reads the content on your website, they walk away feeling like they have learned something new that they can use in their life.
Another way of creating people first content is that you focus the content that you put on your website. You can do this by avoiding putting on lots of content on different topics and by focusing the content to your areas of expertise. Try an avoid writing about topics that are simply trending. Before you write about something, ask yourself – is this something you would write about if it wasn’t a trending topic? If the answer to that question is “no” then avoid writing about it because your customers will be able to figure out that you don’t actually have expertise in the content, you have written.
How does it affect you?
Google has a new signal ranking that is coming out this month for both new and existing websites. The new signal ranking will focus on value-added content rather than simply summarizing content from all places on the internet. Like we said earlier, if you have post content simply because it is trendy, your publications may be categorized as unhelpful. This in turn will affect the ranking of your website.
This new update will not devalue your SEO (search engine optimization) practices, in fact it will let content creators incorporate conscious practices into creating content specifically keeping their prospective and existing customer base in mind.
LinkedIn’s New Ability to Pin Comments
If you are looking for new ways to generate more engagement on your LinkedIn posts, here is a new and improved feature from LinkedIn that will help you do just that! You can now pin a comment within the LinkedIn post reply section.
If you have a business profile on LinkedIn, then you already know that they let you pin an update on your LinkedIn company page, and also allows you to “feature” your own top posts at the very top of your profile.
With this new updating rolling out in September 2022, you can now also pin specific replies to specific posts. This increases your chances of maximizing any interactions you have on LinkedIn. More interactions on LinkedIn essentially means more visibility in your network and around.
Pinned a comment on top of your post by mistake? Well, there is a solution for that as well. You can use the three dots next to the reply, and simply unpin the comment. The option to “pin” comments is now being rolled out to all users on LinkedIn. We do believe that this new update will boost interactions and can help you expand your brand and build your business or personal brand!

Twitter Tests New Professional Account Options
This is a very exciting time to be on twitter, especially if you have a professional account. Twitter first started rolling out these new features in April 2021, with only a select few brands participating in the initial beta program.
If you have a Pro profile on Twitter, you’ll notice that they have been slowly developing and testing more and more shopping options on their profile. They are also developing a new product management platform to assist in building your in-app product showcase.
Among the latest of their enhancements, are the new spotlight enhancements. The first one is the Location spotlight. This has now been rolled out globally. If you are a business owner, then this new feature allows your customers to be able to navigate to your business with Google Maps integration.
This is not all that the spotlight feature can do for you. Now you’ll also be able to display your business hours and you can even set up to be contacted via phone, text messages, Twitter direct messages, and even email.
If you are an ecommerce business, you now also get a Shopping spotlight. This new feature will now allow ecommerce businesses to have a dedicated section at the top of their account to display their products. This new spotlight now acts as a catalogue that allows your customers easy access to purchase products without having to leave twitter! Twitter is now bringing you one step closer to achieving your sales goals!
